中午看到這則新聞：TOSHIBA 宣布放棄繼續發展 HD DVD！

華納兄弟原本是好萊塢中，同時發行 HD & Blu-ray 兩種規格的最大片商，其 DVD 銷量約佔全美總銷量 18~20%。但今年一月初，華納宣布自今年六月開始，旗下電影將只以 Blu-ray 格式發行，不再出版 HD DVD，此舉等於是賞了 HD DVD 一記重拳啊~~

目前的高解析度 DVD 市場中，新力、20世紀福斯及迪士尼都只發行 Blu-ray DVD，加上下半年以後的華納，四家好萊塢大片商的加持將讓 Blu-ray 如虎添翼；而主要片商到時將只剩派拉蒙、環球、夢工場等出版 HD DVD，以及和 TOSHIBA 合作發展 HD DVD 的 Microsoft.....

規格統一之路應該就在不遠的未來了，觀望多時的消費者總算不必再猶豫囉～

Saw this news at noon : TOSHIBA announced they are going to stop the development of HD DVD!

Warner Bros. had been the largest media company releasing videos in both HD DVD & Blu-ray formats. It is also Hollywood's biggest seller of DVDs, representing 18 to 20 percent of sales in the United States. However, they announced in early January this year that it will begin offering its high-definition DVDs exclusively in the Blu-ray disc format. This announcement was nearly a deadly strike to HD DVD!!

Currently, Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox and Disney release their high-definition videos exclusively for Blu-ray, which is owned by Sony. Plus Warner Bros., these four major film studios will let Blu-ray make a big progress in sales, while Paramount, Universal Pictures and Dreamworks release for HD DVD -- which WAS backed by TOSHIBA and Microsoft.

Finally this Blu-ray vs. HD DVD fight looks going to be over in the near future. Consumers who are afraid to choose the wrong side won't have to hesitate anymore.
